MRS. JOSEPHINE STURKIE
Mrs. Josephine S. Sturkie, 83, died at 4 o'clock yesterday afternoon at the home of her son B.M. Sturkie of 2508 Two Notch Road.
Mrs. Sturkie was originally from Gaston but had made her home in Columbia for the past five years. While in Gaston she was a member of the Sandy Run Baptist Church.
She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. I. M. Hallman of Columbia and Mrs. Ruby Lee Mills of Gaston; two sons, B. M. Sturkie of Columbia, and Z.A.W. Sturkie, Jr. of Gaston; three sisters, Mrs Rosa Millhouse of Roseville, Mrs. Tex Davis of Charleston and Mrs Ella Hair of North and three step-daughters, Mrs Susan Pound of Columbia, Mrs Lidia Miller of Batsburg and Mrs. Martha Rish of Greenwood.
Funeral services will be held at 3:30 sunday afternoon at the Sandy Run Baptist church. Services will be conducted by the Rev J. K. Munro, assisted by the Rev. W. T. Chewning pastor of the Crest Hill Baptist Church in Columbia.
Interment will be in the churchyard.
