According to Sturkey family legend, this Wlliam was the brother of Benjamin and had a son, Daniel, who was an indigo planter in Orangeburg. It seems possible that some of this William's descendants were the ones who went to Alabama about 1830. According to their research, they were descendants of a Daniel Sturkie born Born February 18, 1786 in Orangeburg, who died January 18, 1851 in Smith Station, Alabama. If the Sturkey family legend is correct, this Daniel born in 1786 could be the son of William born between 1760 and 1765.7
