STURKIE RITES
Services for Mrs. Blanche S. Sturkie, Widow of B. M. Sturkie, will be 3 p.m. today at First Baptist Church in Gaston, conducted by the Rev. Horace B. Youngblood and the Rev. W. T. Chewing.
Pallbearers will be Duane Sturkie, David G. Smith, John T. Hook, Charlie Henshaw, George Sightler Jr. and Basil Mack.
Born in Covington, Ala., she was a daughter of the late J. W. and Kansada Glenn Sightler.
She and her husband formerly owned and operated Sturkie and State Furniture Company in Columbia and Sturkie Furniture Company in Augusta, Ga.
Surviving are tow brothers, George W. and J. Woodrow Sightler of Cayce; and a sister, Mrs. E. C. (Mary) Smith of Columbia.
Thompson Funeral Home is in charge.

B. M. STURKIE OF COLUMBIA DIES AT 77
Banker M. Sturkie, 77, of 2515 Two Notch Road died Sunday in Providence Hospital.
Mr. Sturkie was born in Lexington County, the son of the late Z. A W. Sturkie and Josephine Hayden Sturkie.
He was the owner and operator of the Sturkie Furniture Co. 1919 Taylor St., State Furniture Co. Two Notch Road and Sturkie Furniture Co. in Augusta, GA. He had been in the furniture business for 38 years in Columbia. he was a member of First Baptist Church of Gaston and the Gaston Masonic Lodge No. 382.
Surviving are his widow Mrs. Blanche Sightler Sturkie of Columbia; and two sisters, Mrs. I. M. Hallman and Mrs. Ruby Le Mills of Columbia.
Funeral arrangements will be announced by the Thompson Funeral Home, West Columbia.
STURKIE RITES TO BE TODAY
Funeral services for Banker M. Sturkie will be Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. in First Baptist Church in Gaston, conducted by the Rev. B. C. Durham, the Rev. Harry W. Granger and the Rev. Horace Youngblood. He died Sunday.
Pallbearers will be Charlie Hallman, Clyde Hallman, Lagare Sturkie, George Sightler, Jr., Harold Sturkie, Alvin Zeigler, Marvin O. Sightler and Bobby Sightler.
