OPAL INEZ WHITE, a longtime resident of Houston, died Saturday April 1 1989 in a local hospital. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Houston for 59 years and a graduate of Baylor University. Preceded in death by loving husband, Anderson Davoe “Red” White. Survivors: Sister, Kathie Powell, Houston; brothers, Lloyd O. Sturkie, Houston, Ira O. Sturkie, Harlingen, TX, Dr. Howard N. Sturkie, Palestine, Dr. Paul D. Sturkie, East Brunswick, New Jersey; and several sisters in law, a brother in law, a host of loving nieces, nephews and friends. Funeral services 12 moon Tuesday April 4, 1989 at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Chapel . Interment Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery. Pall bearers. John D. Sturkie, Bob Powell, Rick Sturkie, Ed Powell, Jim Bonney, Marion Turner, Craig Knight.

Retiring Metallurgist A. D. White Ending 40-Year Research CareerA. D. “Red” White, Staff Metallurgist in the Research and Engineering Department, will retire after close to 41 years of service on September 1.
Mr. White joined Hughes Tool Company in 1929 three months prior to his graduation from Texas A&M. he was first assigned to duties in the Chemical Laboratory and shortly after transferred to the metallurgical Department where he remained from 1930 to the outbreak of World Ward II.
At that time he was made product Engineer and Chief Metallurgist at the Aircraft Strut Plant. In 1941 he returned to the main Houston plant as process engineer only to be recalled to the Strut Plant shortly after as Chief Production Engineer for the artillery shell program. At the end of the war he again returned to the main plant, this time as Chief metallurgist.

ANDERSON DAVOE “RED” WHITE, 82, a longtime resident of Houston, died Wednesday, August 3, 1988 in a local hospital. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Houston for 58 years, he worked for Hughes Tool Co. for 41 years as a Metallurgical Engineer and he was a graduate of A & M University in 1929. Survivors include his Wife, Opal White also of Houston, sisters, Sally Ruth Dawson of Livingston, TX. and Kathy Powell of Houston, brother, Sam White of Brownwood, Texas; several loving sisters-in-laws and brothers-in-law; numerous nieces and nephews and a host of loving friends. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon Friday, August 5, 1988 at the Chapel of Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home with Reverand Bob Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery. Pall bearers will be: Rick Sturkie, Johnny Sturkie, Wayne Kessler, James Kessler, Bob Powell and Eddie Powell.
