Census notes for Kenneth (Spouse 1)
RE:Christian McCaskill (Bethune), daughter of Allen McCaskill (see below) who was son of Kenneth McCaskill (see below). Christian McCaskill born apparently in 1811, sixth of ten siblings.John Bethune (husband) was administrator of Allen McCaskill.

From a copies of a recently acquired set of genological papers re: McCaskill, here is some interesting data that may or may not link SC McCaskills, and Miss. McCaskills. (Unfortunatly, I do not have the complete file yet nor do I even have a reference. but...).

"Kenneth McCaskill

Born Ca 1730 Isle of Skye, married Sarah ____. According to family tradition Kenneth was a merchant of Rhuadh na Dunain on Skye. The family chartered a ship and was brought to America by 'sir' Kenneth McCaskill, docking in Wilmingotn NC....apperently 'sir' Kenneth brought this Kenneth and his ten children to America in 1811...the family settled in Kershaw Co. SC... [A} statement seems to establish ...this family is related to the family of Finley McCaskill rather than to the familyu of the second immigrant group [1803]....Descendants of Kenneth either remained in Kershaw Co., SC or resettled in Mississippi, Louisiana, Georgia, Florida, or Alabama. Allen was 8th of ten children.)

8. Allen McCaskill

Son of Kenneth and Sarah. Born 1769 Scotland. Died 5/26/1834 KershawCo., SC. Married Nancy ____ who was born 11/28/1774 in 'the highlands of Scotland' and died 11/28/1859 in Kershaw Co., SC according to Camden Archives (SC). Both she and Allen are buried in the Old Scotch Cemetary near Bethune, SC. They were married in Scotland. Allen died intestate and settlement papers were filed in Kershaw Co. 2/21/1846. Angus McCaskill and Daniel Bethune were adminnistrators of the property listed as follows:

'The Honorable petition of Angus McCaskill and Daniel Bethune, administrators of Allen McCaskill, deceased, repectfully shows that Allen McCaskill departed this life on the 27th day of May in the year of our lord 1834 intestate and left alive at time of his death, his widow, Nancy McCaskill and his children, Kenneth McCaskill, Angus McCaskill, Allen McCaskill, Danial McCaskill, CRISTIAN BETHUNE (caps added wife of Daniel Bethune) and Catherine McCaskill, Peter McCaskill and Allen McCaskill, his heirs at law and distributors of his Estate who are all of full age and DANIEL MCCASKILL departed this life in 1842 intestate without children. Allen resides permanently in Miss. and Peter resides in State of Ala. etc.

Apparently Allen McCaskill had children, Kenneth (1800), Angus (1803), Alexander (1804), Allen (1807), Daniel (1808), Christian (1811), Nancy (1812), Peter (1816), Catherine (1815) and John (1819).
