“James B. Luker, our great grandfather, married Elizabeth Edwards who was born in Alabama. We know nothing about her family except that she had a brother Jesse Edwards who lived in another county near Choctaw County. Jesse Edwards owned a large plantation on which he worked many slaves. Grandpa Luker always referred to him as “Uncle Jess Edderds”. James B. Luker was overseer of the slaves for his brother-in-law for a time.”
