noticed this family before on the 1880 census, but wasn't sure how they fit in. I believe this Lewis Hoover on the 1880 census is the Henry L. Hoover who appears on the 1850 census.  The Henry L. Hoover family was listed as follows:
    Hoover, Henry L., age 31
    Salina, age 30
    Julia A., age 9
    Louis C., age 8
    Jacob W., age 6
    Mary M. age 4
    Lavina, age 1
            

 

From what I can tell, Jerusha, Mary, and Mary Sarah may have had a younger brother named John, born ca. 1813/14, who married Elizabeth Rister.  They appear on the 1850 census for Lexington Co.  My cousin Tessica interviewed (in 1967) a Lillie Mae Branham, who lived on land that was part of the above mentioned land grant.  She claimed to be the granddaughter of Lewis (or Louis) Hoover, who was a brother of Mary Sarah Hoover.  I do not have a birth date for Lewis Hoover, nor can I find him in the census.  Jerusha was born ca. 1785 which would make her 28 years senior to John.  If Jerusha, Mary, Mary Sarah, Lewis, and John were all born to the same mother, then Lewis must be somewhere in the middle (given a woman's biological clock).  For now, I am listing him as the 4th child even though I do not have a year of birth for him.
