1791 - he received a child’s portion of his father’s estate
1797 - Cumberland Co., PA Orphans Ct Records show William A. D. Ewing as his gaurdian
1801 - June 15 “James Ewing, Gentleman, is 1st Lieutenant of Volunteer troops of Dragoons in the 2nd Regiment of the Jackson Co., GA Militia.”

1802 - James paid taxes on land as “under age.”
1804 - 22 Feb William A. D. Ewing made a full accounting o of his guardianship of James and Charles ( a “school boy”). On the date James Ewing was made guardian Of Charles (Elbert Co., Ga. will Book 1903-1806 pages 140; 335-336). James rec’d $513.20.
1804 - 29 May, James Ewing made full disclosure of the account of Charles Ewing, orphan of James Ewing and a minor. It shows that Charles attended boarding school, and that he received $271.56 with intrest from 1 May 1791 (9 years at 6% and at 8% until this date. William A. D. and James were good business managers.
1805 - James Ewing’s Orphans of Groves District Elbert Co., GA applied for land in the Gold Lottery. They recd Lot #207, District 6, Baldwin (now Jones) Co., GA. Charles Ewing sold it in 1808.
1809 - William A. D. Ewing sold to James Ewing, 151 acres of land for $1600. (I believe it was to James son of John Ewing who had married one of the Gillespie girls in West Pennsboro, PA
