On this the forth day of June A. D. (1856) one Thousand And Eight hundred and fifty-six, personally appeared before me, Plesant T. Tannahill, a Justice of the Peace in and for the County of Henderson and State of Texas, Joshua B. Luker, aged forty-one years who being duly sworn according to law declares that he is the identical Joshua B. Luker who was a Private in the Company commanded by Captain Thomas G. Raines in the regiment of the Alabama Volunteers commanded by Col. R. E. B. Baylor in the war with the Creek Indians, that he volunteered at Montgomery, Alabama, on the thirtieth day of May, A. D. 1836 for the Term of Six Months, and continued in active service in said war for the term of one month and twenty-two days, and was honorably discharged at Montgomery, Alabama, on the 22nd July 1836 as will appear by the muster rolls of said Company and that his discharge accompanies this application.

He makes this declaration for the purpose of obtaining the bounty land to which he may be entitled under the Act passed March the 3rd 1855, and he hereby declares that he has not applied for or received Bounty Land under this or any other Act of Congress except as above stated; and he hereby appoints John H. McCutchen Attorney-at-Law, of Washington, D. C., to prosecute his claim and receive his warrant when issued.
